isn't change good?

My friend laments the change that had come upon the old home town. Someone posted: "Isn't change good?" Are we so used to soundbites that we've forgotten to think? "Isn't change good?" you ask. Well: Fire changes the forest, a tsunami changes coasts, tyrants change liberty? Robespiere, Lenin, Hitler, Amin, the Serpent in the Garden were all changers in this sense. Even a recent politician used 'change' in this noncontemplative way.
