Jump Starting Your Career Jussie Smollet's Way

So now the pravda media is telling us Jussie Smollett did his thing to further his career. Really? Wouldn't going to acting school be furthering his career, or perhaps taking a lot of off Broadway acting parts? Certainly there must be something else in his motive? I wouldn't mind furthering my writing career but a noose and bleach don't immediately come to mind.
