The Newest Politically Incorrect Word

So we are now given yet another list of words that are offensive and politically incorrect. "American" being one of them. I can hear the intellectuals at college chime in with the objections to the word as being imperious, chauvinist, geographically arrogant, and so on. Well, I just have to wonder when we are going to pull up our bootstraps, cinch in our belts, and face these deletors of our dictionaries and let them know in no uncertain terms that we are no obeyors of their own secular imperialism of language. I think there is something that used to be known as 'freedom of speech'...may we not give it up or be propagandized into giving it up.

Listening to the News May be Bad for Your Brain

This morning I heard over the radio a major news outlet announce: "Tomorrow at the courthouse in South Carolina there will be a demonstration against the lowering of the Confederate flag by the KKK and hate groups of all stripes. There may be a hundred demonstrators who will attend this hate event."
After hearing such a report I had a few innocent questions come to my mind: first, why would only a hundred demonstrators make worthy the major story of the day? Second, that those who think the lowering of the Confederate flag was not a victory against hate but a defeat for southern self determination must prove themselves by the fact itself to be members of the KKK or at the least haters? Third, with all the hate talk going around why is 'hate' left unmentioned as the catalyst in the case of a person of Islamic persuasion killing four marines? Could it be, by any chance, that the media is manipulating our minds, and if they are what motive might they have?

Bathtime

It seems after all that we are the unperceptive frog in the pot and nothing seems strong enough to awaken us from our bubbling bath water. Yes, the burners are on high below us.

Our Straightjackets

The current propaganda is making a very hospitable habitat for relativism. I was reminded of Benedict XVI's phrase "the dictatorship of relativism" and how currently we have no absolute standard of right and wrong, of good and evil and that this is manifested in the insanity that seems to be rampant in the current asylum we are now patients in. Our straightjackets are the ad hominem attacks of 'racist', 'sexist', 'homophobe' that keep us so timid about expressing any kind of opinion which can conceivably be twisted to make the 'hater' label stick. Who would've ever thought that this is how our first amendment right would be thwarted?

Whence Freedom?

I mean where do we even come up with the concept of freedom? Why should we ever have thought the idea if it was not somehow already planted by Freedom Itself? Or take love: a merely human idea as well? Might their origin be not in the human spirit, but from somewhere outside ourselves? from other regions, other sources?
