In the Bare Limbs of Trees

Over the past few days great riches up in the bare limbs of trees outside my window: five gold finches, a cardinal, an oriole. To sing as they sing they must be praising somebody. Guess who...

Nuns and their Habits

If it would only be realized that one of the main draws to military even the military religous is the uniform. This "uniform" witnesses to not only the belonging to an army but also to a way of life counter-cultural to a corrupted culture. There is also the counter-cultural witness to modesty in a world where the bikini, thong, the slut-look, have become all the fashion. In contrast, in the nun's habit, the feminine beauty is covered as you cover a precious vessel. Yes, this religious order, The Dominican Sisters of St. Cecilia, (among other conservative orders) I should expect to flourish especially among the idealistic young. Hooray for them!

The Equal Work Myth

It has often been asserted by various journalists that the disparity in wage is still evident in culture. It is a result of sexism in the workplace. But doesn't this myth work off the assumption that there can even be "equal work"? Even an individual doesn't do the same "equal" work from day to day! So many variables exist. The Politics of Cramped Quarters

I would hazard to bet that Hillary's social engineers have lobbied for the illegality of such an arrangement as eleven family members living in a house of under a thousand square feet as my friend experienced growing up. Today, to be sure, some ordinance would rise up in objection. And thus I especially must be careful as I live in a quaint little cottage: but I must underscore the middle adjective. I'm sure if I had so much as a parakeet in my 430 sq feet it would be, at the least, a heavy fine if not mandatory sentencing if Hillary was ever to find out. I am supposing the village that raises the child, or even a parakeet, must have a minimum square footage.
