Billy Graham: Requiescat in Pace Christi

I wish here to thank Billy Graham for unashamedly presenting the Person of Christ; for presenting the most regal of Kings as approachable as your closest friend in his kindest moments. In Billy Graham you heard a crusader convinced and compelled to share this reality of the Savior. How many times did I renew my conversion to Christ? How many times did I feel the oxygen of the Omnipotent fill me, gain access to my blood and strengthen the heart of a boy? Many times. May we regain such zeal for truth. May we have the faithful focus of this man who knew the Antidote to these toxic times and left us a living legacy of what real Love looks like.

President's Day

President's day. Sometimes I call it "John Quincy Adams day" or "James A. Polk day" or "James A. Garfield day" or once and awhile "Calvin Coolidge day". After all isn't "president's day" a bit banal? But that's just me. I understand the calendar maker's motive. Yes, we must be inclusively bland and after all Washington (I believe it was his birthday, if I'm not mistaken) was one of those colonizers and he even mentioned God and prayed in public even though the Jeffersonian fingerprints of separation of church and state is all over the Constitution. Moreover, the same historical scholars say that all that talk of George's honesty and bravery was just a matter of fanciful legend. Of course we should know today with all the most recent research coming from the pens of the infallible Critical Theorists. All a moot point now that Washington is off the calendar. "Good riddance!" we are learning to say. "We don't have to endure your proven hypocrisies!" And furthermore: "Lucky there wasn't a charge of harassment against you, Mr. Washington! Perhaps Martha was even a child bride!" (Why if only there were a 'me too' movement then!) Perhaps we'll never know. Or perhaps some concubines will come forward even now. If so I'm sure the media will consider their claims with all respect and bring them to the attention of us all. Certainly it will be cold water on any patriotic flames one might have for the Father of our Country. Anyhow it's now common knowledge that the historians of the past, being the victors, wrote a very lopsided history easily discounted. But the new historians we can trust. They came to realize that all those White Anglo Saxon Protestants (WASPS are what they are affectionately called in places of higher learning) were the colonial supremacists that have made this country so unlivable along with such ruthless imperialists as Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vaspuci. Nonetheless, we must be sensitive (I'm continually being told). With sensitivity being my new compass, I wish to encourage the calendar makers to even perhaps be more egalitarian and call it, "Government Workers Day"? But wait. That's still a bit exclusive, isn't it? Perhaps just "workers day"? Oh, yeah, the communists already did that. Suppose we just completely eliminate any headship or hero or supremacy of any kind and say...."Human Day"? Inoccuous enough isn't it?---inclusivity being what we are striving for. But maybe we can do better. With the unforgivable slight to other living creatures in mind, we can go further and call it "Organism Day". Oh, wait a minute, yes, I see my deeply ingrained cultural insensitivity. We are, after all, leaving out the inorganic matter. In that case, shall we, on this special day, celebrate the completely inclusive and non-heroic non supremacist: "Material day"...no, even that can be improved upon in that we are callously leaving out non-matter. That will come back to haunt us. I can see some college professor sending his students out on their weekly protest to raise his placard and banner for bitter discrimination against the non-matter particles of the universe being left out, we the sad material supremacists. Thus, "Matter and non-Matter Day". Now that would indeed be perfectly non discriminatory and grandiosely generic! A sincerely sterilized day without any hierarchical and heroic patriarchs to make us feel, in any way, inferior. That indeed an egalitarian calendar we could be comfortable to hang on our walls.

The Answer to Our Toxic Times

Might the answer to our toxic times be something other than psychoanalysis, or more laws, or school detectives, or metal detectors, or cameras, or support groups, or hate free zones, or background checks, or FBI surveillance, or oversight of emails, or keeping track of one's use of the angry emotons one uses on facebook...might it be as simple as the little three letter word that signifies the One that we expelled from schools, museums, our homes, even some churches---in order to have a society where we can delete from our lives what in another day would've been the little darlings of maternity wards but are now the discards of our Women's Health Clinics; a society where the perpetrators of cold blooded destruction get a few years in prison where once they would've faced the electric chair; a society where we permissively raise our kids with no consequence to bad behavior but at most a time out; a society where we discard natural biological law for the great lie that allows us to rebel against our ordained biology; a society that has as its advocates those who seek to hatefully and intolerantly label those who don't agree to their lifestyles as haters and the intolerant; a society that has done all it could to fracture the family and and make motherhood the obscenity that Huxley had prophesied; a society so founded on falsehood that we have come to the Orwellian realization that indeed to dare to tell the truth is a revolutionary act; a society that has exiled God to the Gulag leaving us to wonder how our societal soul has become malignant with the spirit of Moloch.

The Curricula in Schools These Devilish Days

Just saw a post of the LGBT curricula being taught in Canadian schools and I would hazard to bet in many American schools. The video depicts drag queens at the head of kindergarten classes indoctrinating these innocent children. Can it ever get more urgent to homeschool? Where is the outrage? Where is the outrage from the Church? Where is the outrage of families? Where is the outrage of our religious leaders? Take a break from immigration and climate change and start seeing this grave transgression against the least of these---this devilish destruction of the beautiful innocence of children, this diabolical pollution of their minds. We seem so concerned, and rightly so, of the pollution of water and air, forest and glade...and yet what of this toxic waste entering the soul, the delicate ecosystem of the soul of a child?

Paul Ryan's Memorable Moment at the State of the Union

I'm surprised that there hasn't been an ACLU lawsuit against Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, for actually pointing upward to the "IN GOD WE TRUST" inscription. Are they losing their atheistic zeal? One thing anyway: it's good that it is inscribed in marble---not so easy for the Left to erase (they can still boo or remain silent but erasure would be quite a labor). And Mr. Ryan has given us an immortal moment in the history of State of the Unions, hasn't he? Pointing upward. One can take that two ways, and only two ways, and both are beautiful.

Call Me a Conspiracy Theorist

I know. Call me a conspiracy theorist because I am. I witness conspiracy in sports all the time. We will be witnessing this Sunday two teams conspiring against each other. But as to a garbage truck that just happened to park on a set of railroad tracks in time for a train carrying Republicans---well. I just can't help but wonder especially when the Democrats want a majority to impeach with. And I have also to ask: weren't there any other parking spaces available for the garbage truck than upon the tracks? I think I am glad there is a bit of the Columbo angst in me, for I am glad that I'm a conspiracy theorist rather than a coincidence theorist. I think the former might be more often the case at least in these tolerant times.
